1.1 Skills

Strengths and Weaknesses

I took a variety of questions regarding my strengths and weaknesses and answered them below:

  • What professional qualities do I have?

I am able to draw traditionally and storytell to a good standard. I’m great at concepting ideas and building on them overtime.

  • What do I do well?

I can draw both traditionally and digital art, though I prefer traditional and prefer drawing creatures and people over environments. I can write both narrative pieces and analytical pieces of writing well.

  • What is the level of my education?

I am currently working at at level 3 college course.

  • What is my biggest achievement?

As someone who prefers drawing characters way more than environments I was very proud of my world map presentation board I made for unit 8. As well as that I am very happy with my unit 8 work as a whole as I attempted making turn around sheets, which is something I’ve not tried out before and Im pleased with the final outcomes I’ve produced.

  • What personal qualities do I have?

I’m learning Japanese in my spare time and can speak it decently. I draw very frequently and practice writing in my spare time too as I enjoy it a lot.

  • What am I bad at?

I’m not the best at organising my files and struggle with 3D modelling related tasks.

  • What can I improve?

I can learn to organised my files and folders better. Drawing and writing something everyday is also a good way for me to continue improving the quality of my work.

  • What are my personal flaws?

I have fairly low self esteem and often push myself to a very high standard.

  • What tasks do I usually avoid doing?

I usually do as little environment work as possible as its my least favourite part of 2d art.

  • What are the roots of my failure?

I fairly often procrastinate on work if I feel I can meet the deadline just fine.

Reflecting back on the questions and the answers I provided, I have learnt that I’m not the strongest at organisation and often procrastinate on work if I don’t feel worried about it. 3d and programming are not my strongest points but I know the bare basics although I am very strong in the areas I enjoy such as 2d art and narrative/storytelling.

I then filled out a Skills Audit sheet to help me pinpoint further my skills with certain subjects, softwares, drawing, IT, communication, team work, problem solving and self management. I had to rank myself 1-4 (1 the lowest, 4 the highest) on how confident I feel in certain areas and the softwares I use. After marking down how I felt for each I looked over what I put down and evaluated what I was good at, what I was lacking in and how to improve the ones that weren’t as strong. Below are screenshots regarding the whole task.
