- How has the development of your project been influenced by your research on working practices for your chosen profession?
Linking my chosen profession to my project is fairly hard to do as I want to go into narrative design, which is difficult to implement into my idea of villain concept art. Though my research did give me the idea to combine both, to give the character I would create a small bio to reveal small aspects of their background.

Despite that, research into my chosen profession did not help much for this project. As the main choices for these projects are 2D art, 3D modelling or programming, focusing on narrative would not work well for this project.
- Has the development of your project been affected by your research into historical and contemporary influences for your chosen profession?
The development of my project was not effected by either historical or contemporary influence for my chosen profession. Once again as what I would like to do with my profession is narrative base yet focusing my project on concept art means the research would not be helpful for this project at hand.
- Reflect on your learning and skills – What you have done and why you have done it?
I have done concept art for a character in a cyberpunk game, mainly to show the outfits to show how the character looks and the different layers of their clothing. To keep in theme, I made the character have cybernetic attachments such as a prosthetic arm and a burnt out eye replaced with a robotic one. I decided early on to make this character a villain, so that influenced the idea for the cybernetic hand’s fingers to be claw-like to make the character look a lot more intimidating.

I tried a sharp prosthetic leg too, but I struggled to work out the anatomy for that so ended up scrapping it.

With research on clothing for the cyberpunk genre, masks came up a lot which I decided to implement into my idea. Having a villain conceal themselves in a mask to keep their identity would imply a level of cleverness the villain has, knowing to keep who they are secretive. with the mask and long black coat helping to hide their identity better. Yet this also make them look suspicious, a clear nod that they are not to be taken lightly.

- Sum up your ongoing evaluations/opinions/reflections that you documented during the project.
Throughout the project my feelings on what I was making were strong. I was confident on my idea and what I was creating, though practicing to draw the robotic enhancements was tricky as it’s something I haven’t focused too much on before. I feel I maybe could have made them look a lot cleaner but for something I do not usually draw I think I did a good job on them.
I was really happy with all the colour scheme concepts I came up with. It did take a while to chose what colour palette to use for the final piece, especially between the red design and blue design. My decision to pick the blue over the red was mainly because I really liked the colours of the mask on it and I think it helps divert expectations of villains being associated with red and black.

- What do you feel has worked well and what did not work well? What could you do to improve your work?
I feel my project as a whole went really well. I was really happy with the colour ideas and felt all of them worked really well. I was also really happy with how well my robotic features I practice drawing for the character as well as the final cybernetic limb on the final piece.

While the robotic arm turned out well, I tried to practice a prosthetic leg too, but it was much trickier to work out anatomy wise. I tried a couple times to sketch out a robotic leg, but I wasn’t happy with the attempts and felt it easier to drop adding the leg to the design after some effort.

The final turn out for the brand and mask on the final project. The brand was a lot of fun to work on and it’s probably the aspect of this piece that I am happiest about.

- Reflect on peer and tutor feedback.
I reflected on feedback from my peers to flesh out annotations around my moodboards and to ensure all my research was noted and explained as well as I could with how it aided in making my project.

- What have you learnt during this project?
Throughout this project I have learnt how to plan out a character’s outfit layer by layer. I have also been able to digitally draw up a burnt brand marking and I am very proud with how I have been able to make it look on the face. I practice using a handful of brushes of different sizes and shades of red to practice the look of blood splatter on the claws of the cybernetic hand. While I didn’t use this technique on the final piece, I have learnt how to mix the usage of certain brushes together for an effect I have not used before, which will be useful knowledge for me for future.
